touched to meet and vibe about notebooks and fountain pens and books with a plot. you are an absolute delight. and happy to clear your path so you can write freely about tennis!
A friend forwarded me your email announcement of this side-Substack knowing I would be up for this and she was CORRECT. "I think about tennis. I watch tennis. I play tennis." Same. Wondering if you ALSO, like me, just checked your phone for score updates and gasped aloud when you saw that Alcaraz lost to Lehecka after being up 4-2 in the third set!!!
Honestly? “I don’t have lunches” is the kind of monastic tennis focus I aspire to. I feel seen by this whole intro—especially the part about ruining the vibe by “playing up.” There’s a special place in tennis purgatory for the dude who shows up to the intermediate clinic hitting overhead smashes at people’s heads just to “challenge himself.”
Also here for the racquet discourse. TFight 305s gang checking in 🫡
So glad you started this section. Ball in, indeed.
Arrived here via a rec from a family member who knows I'm also a tennis junkie. As a former New Yorker who relocated to Europe some years ago, I'm enjoying reliving my own experiences at the places you're playing at: NTC, Sutton East, etc. Keep it up!
Wow wow wow I love finding other writers obsessed with tennis! I'm here for it. I just finished my debut novel (in editing rounds now) and one of the notes from an editor I'm working with was "too much tennis." So, I feel you.
Consider your niche audience expanded by one! I am very, very here for drill & play because, like you, tennis is all I want to do, think about, and watch. If only I could get paid for it...sigh. Can't wait to nerd out with you.

Alacaraz's addiction to DRAMA is going to age me significantly lol.
