Oh man, I'm jealous of how much you get to play!! How's your body hold up? Despite doing all the recommended exercises and what not, my tennis elbow (my own personal project/nemesis) keeps me from playing more than once a week really. Liveball is my absolute fave!

I enjoyed reading this. I’m the slow old lady at my advanced beginner classes. Becoming someone’s “project” sounds terrifying, haha!

Brandon, this is a revenge memoir disguised as a tennis diary and I love it. I didn’t expect to find a personal vendetta arc every three paragraphs, but by the end, I was rooting for your silent war against the moonballers and dinkers like it was the Wimbledon final.

Also—“when I’ve made someone my project” is officially going in my personal glossary of sports psychology terms. Might apply it to copywriting clients too.

More of this, please. And I’ll take a full post on junkball ethics whenever you’re ready.

As someone equally obsessed with both tennis and writing, I find your substack to be a dream lit-hit combo. Tennis feels like the perfect antidote to the sedentary nature of writing. Using my brain to think about swing, follow-through, shot placement--it's all such a terrific release from metaphors, line breaks, endings. Just wanted to pop in and say--loving this. Total ace. Thanks, Brandon!
